Fall-back to the 80s - 25 October 2014

Our last performance of October ... only a few days before Halloween! So were had to privilege to travel to a neighborhood country club for a post-wedding cocktail hour. The quaint venue was adorned in autumn-themed decorations and colors (think pumpkins and leaves) and the couple selected a "back to the 80s" program of rock and pop hits by The Beatles, Queen, and Eric Clapton. Congrats to The Hendricks!

'Fall'-ing in Love - 18 October 2014

Autumn is quickly coming to a close; so we spend what moments we can outdoors in Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island. There a waterfront restaurant right in the heart of the greenery where we were invited to play for an intimate ceremony. The couple selected an all-pop music program - perfect for our string trio! Autumn Grooming - 13 September 2014

And the second wedding of the day: a gorgeous outdoor celebration for Nick & Ric! Unfortunately, the rain began to pour, but the grooms were well prepared with a tent to cover the entire ceremony and cocktail area! We even shared the stage with Broadway star Linda Eder who gave a rousing rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." The grooms selected a musical theatre filled program, featuring classics from The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, and The Lion King. Congratulations to the happy couple (and to us for surviving two awesome weddings)!

3-Par on the Course - 13 September 2014

Today is a double-shift starting with a unique trio configuration of soprano, cello, and guitar. We travelled to the lovely Dyker Beach Golf Course for the an outdoor ceremony. Under the threat of rain, our cellist Bobbie, vocalist Kacey Cardin, and guitarist Jeff McLaughlin performed a set of contemporary pieces chosen by the couple; it worked out great! Banking on Love - 31 August 2014

It's Labor Day weekend and we had a stay-cation at Capitale on Bowery. The ornate bank was closed for the special wedding of Dina and Cory and we honored to play some new music for the couple: Handsome Furs, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead. The ceremony itself was quite a production, with moving lights, surround sound, and lots of space for guests and the wedding party. This is the second time we've played for the couple as we were there when Cory first popped the question last year. Congrats to the newlyweds and thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding from beginning to end!

Hitched in a Barn by the Sea - 30 August 2014

The 2-hour trip was worth it for a lovely beach-front wedding. The ceremony was held indoors - but outdoors - in a rustic barn complete with wooden benches and a spiral staircase. Guests were dressed like beach-goers: flip-flops, shorts, sun dresses & glasses - though we played more traditional fare. The highlight of the ceremony was the recessional where the newlyweds, the guests, and us performed Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" in FULL before spilling over to cocktail hour; it was sooo amazing! What great way to end a ceremony. Congrats to Bridget & Chris!

Jersey Elegance - 23 October 2014

We had the chance to perform for an all-day wedding celebration in New Jersey. First, a ceremony at a rustic Spanish villa-style catholic church followed by a luxurious cocktail hour at the pristine Addison Park. For the ceremony, the acoustic were great, so we went with a traditional program of Bach and Franck. The ceremony was modern traditional and featured opera and cabaret singer Janet Villas! For the cocktail hour, we had free reign and went more contemporary, with current top 40 hits. Congratulations to happy couple now enjoying their honeymoon!

Serenading at the Shoreline - 22 August 2014

After a 3-hour trip on a Friday afternoon, we arrived at a lovely beach-side hotel for Katie and Lucas's wedding ceremony. With the threat of rain, the mood was initially ominous, but sunshine through the clouds helped assuage concerns. The couple chose an all-contemporary program for their very sweet and intimate ceremony. And even when it did starting to sprinkle, the staff at the hotel come to our rescue covered us with umbrellas - thank you! For cocktail hour, we were inside a glorious parlor room overlooking the water, entertaining guests with pop and rock favorites. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Belle in the Ballroom - 16 August 2014

Right in the heart of Manhattan lies the quaint Prince George Ballroom, an immaculate space we had the opportunity to visit. Jacqueline and Rob chose movie musics as their theme, selecting memorable tracks from Disney films and The Secret Garden - they worked perfectly for the regal decor of the venue. We also performed two classical works with the immensely talented soprano Jennifer Borghi. Congrats to the happy newlyweds!

Garden At the Museum - 09 August 2014

Our visit visit to the beautiful Bartow-Pell Mansion was a smashing successful. We were treated to a stunning garden party complete with greek statues, fountains, and tons of flowers. Keeping it Traditional - 26 July 2014

Our string trio was hired to play for a traditional Jewish ceremony in Roslyn. The temple was spacious and beautifully decorated -- and rightfully so as there were over 200 guests in attendance! And the sound -- such great acoustics, possibly the best in any temple we've been in so far! The couple selected a modern music program centered around The Beatles so it was fun to play non-traditional music in a traditional setting. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

A Beyoncé Brunch - 20 July 2014

Our first engagement party ... and it was a fun one. One a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we were hired to provide music for an engagement party brunch right in Manhattan. Our string trio performed a mixture of familiar classical tunes and current top 40 pop and R&B hits by Beyoncé, Bruno mars, John Legend, and Rihanna. The crowd love hearing songs they were familiar with and were up and dancing to their favorites. The hosts even offered us food from the lovely brunch buffet! What a great Sunday!

Lakeside Romance - 19 July 2014

We return to Woodbury for an outdoor wedding at one of its popular country clubs. Surrounded by greenery, good weather, and gin, our intimate string trio serenaded guests (and geese alike) with a program of contemporary and classical music. We headed out to New Jersey to provide music for an outdoor wedding at the gorgeous Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Surrounded by blooming flowers and exceptional greenery, we performed a selection of classical, pop, and rock tunes as chosen by the couple. Now it's back to Brooklyn for a modern-day ceremony! Set in a local winery, this wedding was all contemporary: a program created around Radiohead music (the couples fav band), cocktails during the prelude, and creative ceremonies during the actual wedding! Like wind on a Rooftop - 18 May 2014

In the lovely Tribeca area, we had the opportunity to play on the beautiful Tribeca Rooftop for a midday wedding! Stunning views of downtown Manhattan, gorgeous decorations, and gale-force winds: a tough combination to deal with. Rain, rain, go away! - 10 May 2014

Wedding season continues with the nuptials of Sue and Yiding. A high-chance of rain squashed plans for an outdoor garden wedding, so the great people at Watermill Caterers fashioned a gorgeous reception hall into the perfect ceremony room. The couple selected a very refined program of classical and romantic pieces by Debussy, Beethoven, and Chopin and decided to go the more traditional route with their ceremony music. During the cocktail hour, we had a chance to play favorites from the 80s and 90s plus a ton of musical theatre pieces. Congrats to the happily married couple for braving the rainy weather!

A Cultural Immersion in Chelsea - 04 May 2014

Wedding season is upon us and we were fortunate to start it off with a traditional Greek orthodox wedding ceremony in Chelsea. The couple selected a program of pure pop music (except for "Canon") which was a pleasant surprise for the guests -- we even received a very nice compliment for our rendition of "Here Comes Your Man"! It's always nice to learn how different cultures have chosen to confirm and celebrate the joining of two lovers so we were happy to be a part of the experience.

Bar Mitzvah celebration - 08 March 2014

Our first bar mitzvah performance! The client hired us to perform a few contemporary selections during the post-celebration lunch at this beautiful cottage restaurant. We were picked up by a great car service and taxied to Closter, New Jersey, served a full three-course lunch, and got a chance to play great crowd-pleasing numbers by OneDirection, Coldplay, and Alicia Keys. Congratulations to the new "man" and thanks again for inviting us to celebrate!

Service Awards Dinner - 26 February 2014

We were invited again this year to perform for a service awards dinner in Long Island. Held in the gorgeous Villa Lombardi's, the dinner celebrated the hard work of the company's staff and employees. The client chose a sophisticated selection of classical, musical theatre, and soft rock tunes to create a very upscale and refined atmosphere. We hope we'll be invited back for the next celebration!

Pier-side Valentine's Wedding - 22 February 2014

Happy New Year and Valentine's Day readers! We start off the new year with a bang -- a beautiful night-time, pier-side wedding right in the heart of the city. Located in the gorgeous Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, the ceremony was a mixture of contemporary tastes and catholic ritual. The couple selected a great pre-ceremony program of top 40 hits and a few more traditional pieces for the Catholic portion. We had a great time premiering new works during the cocktail hour including a lot of Beyoncé and R&B tunes. Here's hoping for a great rest of the year!
